Goldfynch is an art-focussed contemporary fusion collaboration of multi-award winning Guitarist/ Composer Gavin Libotte and Singer/Poet/ Songwriter Niyati Libotte. Blending their mutual love for and eclectic taste in music, art and film, the result is a haunting merger of tone, emotion and energy that takes you on many journeys - by turns cinematic, poetic and aspirational, above all human. It’s storytelling in song, catharsis in sound.

A true melting pot of musical traditions that draws on influences from Eva Cassidy to Air, Madeleine Peyroux to A.R. Raiman, the Beatles to Radiohead and Coldplay, the music mixes genres and each song is unique, blending jazz, acoustic pop, soft rock, classical and folk, with Indian, Latin, Jewish and French influences.

Goldfynch features the talents of stellar Sydney musicians including Aria-winning bassist Jonathan Zwartz, National Jazz Awards finalist Thomas Avgenicos on trumpet, award-winning violinist Ben Adler, drum/percussion from James Hauptmann and Byron Marks, cellist Damian De Boos Smith, pianist Bill Risby and the soulful bansoori flute playing of Venkhatesh Sritharan.

Much like the symbol of the songbird itself, Goldfynch presents an overarching message of hope and positivity through challenge and change.  The debut album was recorded at Soundplanet Studios, produced by Emmy Award winner Sean Carey, and mastered by two-time Grammy Award winner Helik Hadar.

Fantastic food and drink served from 6:30pm. Drop-in before the gig.
