GLEBE: The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful is the latest exhibition from PEOPLE of a TIME and PLACE Studios, featuring a new collection of paintings by Sydney artist Sean Burgess.
Exploring the characters, places, scandals, struggles and legends that have shaped one of Sydney's most colourful suburbs, the exhibition draws on archival research, local history, folklore and community memory to uncover the stories hidden within Glebe's streets.
From underworld figures and social agitators to community heroes and everyday locals, Burgess brings Glebe's past to life through a vivid and expressive visual style. The result is a portrait of a suburb forged by conflict, creativity, resilience and rebellion, where history is never far beneath the surface.
