The Glebe Society celebrates 50 years of being a vibrant and active community organisation 23 to 30 June.
- A fascinating and extensive exhibition of displays and videos – on the Glebe Society in action, the changing Glebe built and natural environment from the 19th to 21st centuries, Aboriginal land and history in Glebe, Glebe people, a schools photographic competition, Glebe in print and film….and more
- Two dramatic performances: have fun and learn about some of Glebe’s historical figures, famous and infamous.
- A series of talks and panel discussions on radical Glebe of the 1960s and 70s, the future of Glebe and Forest Lodge, personal perspectives of long-term Glebe residents, conserving biodiversity, Glebe’s trams…and more
- Guided walks featuring Glebe’s history and heritage, Glebe’s places of worship, a bus tour to places that are central to Aboriginal history and culture in Glebe, and the marine life of Blackwattle and Rozelle Bays.
The exhibition and all events (except for the walks) will be at the Harold Park Community Hall at the Tramsheds. See detailed program on website for times of events, performances and walks.
The exhibition is free and open to all. Bookings are needed for events and walks. Many are free. For others there is a $10 or $20 charge.
