Unlock the knowledge of glaze technology and find pathways into working with and making glazes.
Participants will develop and test a range of glazes to use in their own right. They will gain an understanding of how they’re derived, and their articulation into the broad scope of major glaze types.
The course will provide practical knowledge of the structure of glazes, an account of their visual and particular properties, the role of major glaze materials in glaze formation, and an overview of kilns and firing technologies.
Participants will learn and carry out systematic processes of research and testing new glazes; formulating recipes, and how to work with raw materials in weighing out, batching and applying glazes.
