Our 4 inspiring garden experts will share their knowledge, ideas and experience, covering a broad range of topics, including a fascinating look at what goes on behind the scenes when preparing exhibits for some of the world’s premier garden shows, and a thought-provoking exploration of the vital role of gardens, not just in our lives but also across the turbulent international landscape.
The 2019 Garden Design Series will be hosted by Paul Nicholson from the Royal Botanic Gardens and domain Trust at the Tattersalls Club on Hyde Park in Sydney’s CBD.
Mark Hovane – Thursday 21 March 2019
Mark will discuss Japanese culture and garden history, where his lecture will elucidate the depth and allure of Japanese gardens as invitations of stillness and tranquillity.
Andrew Laidlaw – Thursday 11 April 2019
Andrew, who is the landscape architect at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s Melbourne Gardens and leading designer for Global Gardens of Peace, will draw upon his breadth of experience in his talk, titled ‘From Guilfoyle to Gaza’.
Jim Fogarty – Thursday 9 May 2019
Jim will discuss his award-winning designs at Australian and International Garden Shows, giving his behind-the-scenes insights into the preparation and execution required to win 16 gold medals to date.
Hugh Main – Thursday 13 June 2019
Hugh, who is a garden designer and co-founder of Spirit Level, will share his vision to create, build and care for gardens that are in-touch with their natural settings.
