Gallery 1 | The So Called Almighty Dollar - Penny Van Hazelberg
'Penny Van Hazelberg is an artist living inMelbourne. His involvement in the rise of the internet-based genre Vapor wave, a nostalgic dystopian sound, is often portrayed in his visual work with cartoonish hieroglyphics. Focusing on Wi-Fi obsessed societies and themes of decay, Van Hazelberg pivot’s from painting to music to video art with a colourful, energetic splash.
Gallery 3 | Screen As___ - Joanna Shuen
'Digital screens are evolving into thinner, smaller and even flexible forms. As their presence multiplies, they have receded further away from our consciousness. Consequently, the creative potential of these surfaces passes unrealised. Existing as a suite of experiments,_ Screen As_____ is a multimedia showcase of research that centres around designing with screens as opposed to designing for screens. Each experiment extrapolates the screen into the real world beyond the typical four-edged format. They inquire, investigate and reflect on the screen as a material space to revert our attention back to these seemingly immaterial surfaces
Tune in for a journey through the unworldly and colourful screen scapes experienced by the artist.
This work is a self-directed honours research project completed within the Faculty of Design at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). Scan all other experiments on the project’s website: screen-as.com'
Gallery 4 | Indoor Limelight - Andrew Ensor
'This exhibition is an ode to an epilogue. The collection of artworks are loosely based around themes of overthinking and afterthoughts. What happens after the Fairy tale is over and the credits have rolled? What happens when fantasy inevitably meets reality? What is lost in the rush for the modern?
Andrew Ensor is a Sydney based artist who has been exhibiting as a solo artist for the past 2 decades. His work is a unique combination of abstract acrylic painting and realistic pen drawing on paper.'
