Funk Engine plays Lettuce

A tribute to the top modern funk band

Funk Engine plans to take on the music of one of the world’s top modern funk bands, Lettuce.

Formed in 1992 in Boston at the Berkley College of Music, Lettuce has gone from playing in local clubs to selling out stadiums across the US. The band has released 5 studio albums and 2 live albums. The latest studio album Crush (2015) peaked at number 1 on the US jazz charts. The members are also prolific studio/touring musicians playing with the likes of John Schofield, John Cleary and the Dave Matthews Band.

A tour to Australia is looking unlikely to happen anytime soon. Funk Engine (the Sydney funk aficionados) hope to give audiences an introduction to the music of funk masters who have brought new vitality to the genre. With an expanded line-up and special guests Pat Powell and Arcing Wires, expect to hear some of the grooviest tunes on the planet played by one of our town’s best live acts.

Featuring

Rob Campbell: Trumpet
Nish Manjunath: Alto Saxophone
