Irish-born artist Lauren Baylor presents Frondiloquence, an exhibition of paintings and installation works exploring layered states of consciousness through expressive light and form.

Drawing inspiration from the visionary abstractions of Hilma af Klint and the luminous qualities of Harry Clarke’s stained glass, Lauren works with dispersed and refracted light across painted surfaces. Recurring motifs of palm fronds, ovals and book-like structures anchor the exhibition. Fronds emerge as both quill and vessel forms, linking the natural world with mark-making and acts of transmission.

The artist’s Irish heritage subtly informs the work through references to caoineadh — lament as a tradition of emotional release and ancestral echo. This cultural memory weaves through paint and text, forming a visual dialogue between inner and outer landscapes.

Installation elements extend the paintings into three-dimensional space through considered spatial arrangements that invite contemplation. These environmental components transform the gallery into a reflective setting where colour, gesture and symbol function as tools for perceptual shift.

Frondiloquence positions creativity as an active, embodied process. Drawing on archetypal systems — including oracle imagery and mythic folklore — while maintaining a contemporary abstract language, the exhibition proposes art-making as dialogue: an exchange between presence, perception and possibility.
