This series of 3 lectures is presented by Anne Harbers. The talks cover the decorative arts and style of France, from the medieval era of the Lady & the Unicorn tapestries, through the 17th and 18th century style of Versailles to the neoclassic styles of the Directoire and Empire to the Impressionist era of Art Nouveau during the Belle Epoque.
We will consider textiles, including gobelins, silks, and indiennes, porcelains including Saint-Cloud, Chantilly, Vincennes, Sèvres and Limoges, crystal such as Baccarat, silver from the designs of silversmith Thomas Germain including the Portuguese Royal Service, furniture and design.
