Flesh Meet with Daniel Marshall: Archiving Queer Kinship

Join Daniel Marshall for a talk about the ways we try to connect to the queer past. 

Drawing on one example from the ‘Friendship as a Way of Life’ exhibition — Macon Reed’s Eulogy for the Dyke Bar 2016 — and material from the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives’ collection and work, this talk will reflect on practices of re-enacting the queer past as efforts to build intergenerational kinship. 

Daniel Marshall is an Associate Professor in the School of Communication and Creative Arts at Deakin University, Melbourne. Daniel's publications include the co-edited collections Secret Histories of Queer Melbourne (ALGA, 2011; reprinted 2018), 2 volumes on “Queering Archives” for Radical History Review (Duke UP, 2014; 2015), and Youth, Sexuality and Sexual Citizenship (Routledge, 2018).  Daniel has previously held positions as an invited Visiting Scholar at the Center for LGBTQ Studies (City University of New York) and at the Weeks Centre for Social and Policy Research (London South Bank University), and as a past president of the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives.
