Join us for a special screening of ‘Fiona Clark: Unafraid’. Directed by Lula Cucchiara, the documentary traces Fiona Clark’s groundbreaking photographic practice that has shaped queer visual history in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

About the Film

When Fiona Clark first exhibited her photography of the LGBTQI+ community in 1975, she faced the systemic backlash of an oppressive society. Unafraid, Fiona battles the patriarchy and we discover how her documentation and contributions to the community have helped transform New Zealand society.

About the artist

Fiona Clark’s photographic practice spans more than five decades, investigating the politics of gender, identity, and the body. Her work provides a crucial form of social history through her intimate documentation of Auckland’s drag and trans communities since the 1970s.

About the director

Lula Cucchiara was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1989 and immigrated to Auckland, New Zealand, at the age of 17. With a deep passion for storytelling and visual arts, Lula has developed a unique voice in her work, blending her diverse cultural background with a keen eye for capturing human emotion.
