Every day, 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday 17 January 2022 to Friday 21 January 2022
Learn the art of studio painting from still life to the nude model, whilst refining your observational skills and allowing your personal visual language to emerge in a supportive, fun environment.
Les Rice teaches you to how to develop short sketches on paper into preparatory studies leading to larger, sustained paintings on board and canvas. He refers to the traditional elements of still life and figurative painting and emphasises the importance of working from the human figure to train the eye to see and understand the infinitely complex possibilities for creating dynamic compositions.
Students will be encouraged to work freely, and experiment, without placing emphasis on particular styles. Explore a range of media from acrylic to oil paints, watercolours and collage techniques, while exploring line, tone, proportion, and learning to mix colours. Les presents demonstrations, group critiques and time for individual tuition throughout the course. The course is suitable for beginners as well as those with prior painting experience who want to be challenged and educated in an enjoyable way.
