Are you interested in researching your local area?

Learn to use online archives to discover over 1 million items about the City of Sydney. Access documents, photographs, maps and plans from as early as 1842.

City Archivist Janet Villata will introduce you to the City of Sydney Archives and explain how to search and browse the online catalogue. Janet will also highlight some of the interesting discoveries you can make about Glebe, its people, streets and spaces.

Janet Villata

Janet Villata is the City Archivist at the City of Sydney. She leads a team of 5 and a volunteer workforce of 30. She was part of the project team that developed the new catalogue, introduced in 2020, which helped transform access to the City Archives.
