Exhibition: Misunderstood Animals

A fantastic free exhibition, 'Misunderstood Animals', is on display in the Fountain Court exhibition space at NSW Parliament House this August.

The exhibition is a collection of paintings and sculptures by Newcastle artist Rhonda Partridge, who takes aim at unkind animal stereotypes and encourages visitors to see the importance of every living creature.

"Every animal needs love, protection and a safe environment," Rhonda says. "My work and general philosophy is about nurturing all creatures and maintaining harmony, respect and empathy. This exhibition acknowledges that we have developed many unkind stigmas towards animals, such as the 'dirty rat' or 'cunning crow', and encourages people to see these animals in a new light."

Misunderstood Animals is being displayed alongside pieces from Rhonda's earlier body of work, Whales and Ocean Rhythms, capturing the energy, freedom and movement of both the sea and humpback whales.

The exhibition is being hosted at NSW Parliament by the Honourable Mark Pearson, member of the Legislative Council.

Visit Misunderstood Animals on weekdays between 9 and 5pm at NSW Parliament House (6 Macquarie Street, Sydney). No tickets are needed, entry is free and open to everyone.
