In partnership with the University of Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music, The Women’s Club presents the Emerging Women in Music program which showcases 17 emerging musicians performing ten hours of music by Australian female composers across nine concerts.
Estelle Shircore Barker is an exciting up and coming pianist with a passion for diverse repertoire who enjoys a performance career as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist. She currently studies piano performance under Clemens Leske at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she has been awarded numerous scholarships. She is currently undertaking her Honours year and writing a thesis on the musical portrayal of women and the muse construct within 18th-century music, investigating the aesthetic choices by male composers in their artistic representations of women of the time and how these reflect various cultural expectations and gender stereotypes.
