About the exhibition

Dream Sequence - Superbly the tales of silence and the sounds we create!

Dream Sequences is the name of a series of paintings from my voyage of moving art.

Everyone has their own inspiration and muse. My inspiration comes from the emotive style of historical actors in silent and early talking films. Like in most studies and research we discover loss and hardship. There will be different influences from many actors.

I’m also fascinated with the catalysts of sound mimicking life - the Lyrebird. What an amazing bird. A masterful sound maker and possible recorder of sounds that have long disappeared.

Along with other beautiful muses that fascinate me like Art Nouveau, Erte, Orientalism, Art Deco, butterflies, dragonflies, and vintage colours, I'd like to share with you my collection of watercolours and mixed media artworks as I embark on circling on these wonderful and personal inspirations and possibly unfolding a few stories and new patterns.

About Anthony Van Lam:

As a watercolourist, I strive to create beautiful organic shapes representing healing and wellness through an exploration of lines, silhouettes, and colour. I also create with mixed media and use the beauty of shapes, flowers, and animals as multiple transparent layers in a composition, blended to generate deeper meanings.

I'm a strong believer in using what you have and what you have learnt and putting it into practice. I like to use my imagination to create beautiful things. My artworks are all related to everything in life that fascinates me and always overwhelms me with excitement. I need their stories to be told through my art. Some of my subjects are darker, but I like to share the different sides of them. Especially the beauty of the lessons in life, sacrifices, inner strengths, and beliefs, all these topics are very important for me to share.

The beauty of silhouettes, shapes, and lines of all shades of colour are the things I see that would show in my work.
