Drawing & painting taster: Creating through mindfulness 15+

Slow down and join an experienced artist for a Saturday morning of creative mindfulness

Produced by the City of Sydney

Bookings open 27 June 2019

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing your attention to the present moment – your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surroundings.

In this 2.5 hour workshop, take your creative mindfulness activities beyond colouring in and find inner focus while learning drawing and painting techniques.

Explore line, tone, colour and texture and a variety of mediums such as watercolour, ink, charcoal, graphite and pastel. Learn how to use the creative process to express emotion and promote positive thoughts and feelings.

You’ll create imagined landscapes, pattern mandalas, colour field experiments and more as you discover the potential of drawing.

We’ll also discuss positivity, the power of art to lift mood and the potential of drawing to bring our minds to a place of peace and serenity.

No prior experience or creative ability is necessary to participate in this workshop. Anyone aged 15 years and over is welcome to attend.

Tutor: Craig Bunker
Craig is the uncanny Bunkwaa. A beloved Street Artist, desirable alien and light-bearer of laughter. His iconic style of art is ubiquitous in the inner west streetscapes of Sydney & Adelaide. For Bunkwaa, placing his art in different environments is about reacting and responding to what is around us, making the familiar unfamiliar.
