Double Bill: Audrey Powne + Alex Hirlian Quintet
Melbourne’s queen of groove joins forces with a futuristic ensemble in a non-stop double-bill.
Melbourne’s Audrey Powne fuses traditional pop song-writing with elements of RnB, Hip Hop and the freedom of improvised music. Her intimate and warm vocals, spacey instrumental passages and silky smooth new-school jazz caught the attention of international jazz taste-maker Gilles Peterson - BBC Radio / WWFM).
In the inspirit of jazz and spontaneity, Alex Hirlian - 2018 National Jazz Award) premieres his brand-new quintet in their first fiery performance promising skill, creativity and flair. Tonight is a preview of Alex’s new album to be released on ABC Jazz.
