(DIS)CONNECT

Human hardware

Struggling to make authentic connections across a digital space, this interactive installation uses social media to engage with a live online performer. Compete among the digital noise of others trying to make the same connection. Will you make a new friend within the anonymity of the internet? Or surrender too much and confuse the communication?

Alex Torney is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Sydney who studied performance at the University of Wollongong. He currently works primarily as a lighting designer, sound engineer and installation artist. Best described by long time collaborator Betty Grumble “hunk, punk, skater, maker, tech sensation.”
