One-woman show that explores some lesser-known stories of Bee Miles, an eccentric, bohemian rebel who helped define the character of Sydney

Join us at the State Library during the month of June for special performances of Dictionary by a Bitch, a one-woman show that explores some lesser-known stories of Bee Miles, an eccentric, bohemian rebel who helped define the character of Sydney. This play celebrates her life through stories, songs and imagery.

Vashti Hughes is a Sydney writer, performer, producer, and a theatre and cabaret artist, who has written and performed highly acclaimed work about Sydney’s historical characters and places. Her work includes Mum’s In: Stories from Razorhurst, a one-woman dark comedy cabaret, exploring Sydney’s razor gangs, which featured at the Kings Cross Hotel for over two years.

Vashti is currently performing in Battle of the Tarts, playing monthly at Silly Tart restaurant, revisiting the razor gang content. Three other local Sydney performers play in various roles, including Liesel Badorrek, director of Dictionary by a Bitch, playing the role of Tilly Devine opposite Vashti as Kate Leigh.

Presentation of Dictionary by a Bitch is supported by the City of Sydney’s CBD Activation Grant program.
