Designing your edible oasis

Always wanted to create a beautiful garden or potted area with fruit, vegies and herbs?

Join a qualified landscape architect, get design inspiration and be mentored through the basics of garden design using edible plants.

This 3 hour workshop is perfect for everyone from balcony, courtyard and small space growing to larger yards and patches. Bring photos of your own outdoor space and be prepared for a hands-on design experience.

Suitable for adults.

You’ll learn:

  • site evaluation
  • needs analysis
  • different design styles and layouts
  • seasonal plant selection
  • ideas for integrating edibles and ornamentals
  • about pots and other garden features.

Workshop includes:

  • afternoon tea – fresh fruit, local baked goods and organic tea and coffee
  • detailed notes
  • access to experienced landscape architect to help you with your garden design.

Bring along:

  • paper and pen
  • photos of your own space
  • water bottle.

About your tutor:

Katy Svalbe is Director of Landscape Architecture at Amber Road and has over 15 years of Australian and international landscape and design experience. Equipped with both a degree in Landscape Architecture and a Permaculture Design Certificate, Katy is passionate about harnessing the natural environment to connect and enrich people’s lives. As our cities get denser and space/ land comes at a premium, Katy is forever fine tuning her skills in how to create engaging, nurturing and hard working outdoor spaces at a small scale; incorporating, amongst other landscape features, edible, native as well as ornamental plants.
