You are invited to view the latest work by Sydney painter David Collins from 23 May – 16 June and to join us and the Artist for the Opening Celebration on Friday 1 June from 6pm.
One of Sydney’s most beautiful locations, Dangar Island lies about an hour out of Sydney and has been home for the past 31 years for the artist David Collins. In his latest exhibition The River David elegantly and seductively captures the movement and light on the water, his palette is evocative and sensual. These paintings emerge from a quiet and deeply felt life, lived with a real creative purpose.
The movement of currents and tides over mudflats.
The broken lines of broken jetties.
Masts and Hulls reflected.
This estuarine environment is my inspiration and its evocation the primary focus of my work.
Since 1990, David has held 15 solo exhibitions of paintings and drawings as well as participated in many group exhibitions. In 2013 he received a high commendation in the Wynne Prize for landscape painting from the Art Gallery of NSW. David is currently a finalist in the Calleen Art Award, Cowra Regional Art Gallery.
