Up in the Air, an exhibition of paintings and other 2D works.
Cornelis Timmer is a Sydney-based artist who has exhibited in galleries from Prague to Sydney. He was born in the Netherlands and has lived and worked in Sydney since 1989.
Each of Timmer’s works marks a step closer to the pursuit of clarity and divulges another clue along the way, shaping a unique understanding of his surroundings in an otherwise complex and often chaotic contemporary society.
Using a pallet of colourful squares and rectangles his paintings demand attention. Timmer's geometric abstractions follow a tradition going back to the beginning of last century when many artists started to move away from depicting visual realities and instead ventured into the realms of purity, simplicity and the spiritual.
Timmer’s work opens up new ways of considering the world, our realities and its moral dimensions.
Covid-19 safe procedures operate at the gallery. We record names for contact tracing, supply hand sanitiser, disinfect our surfaces and have only 25 people in the gallery at a time, applying social distancing.
