Discover the boundless possibilities of independent animation in continuum: Independent animation from Japan and Australia.
This exhibition celebrates 15 vibrant and subtly subversive works of contemporary independent animation from filmmakers across Australia and Japan. Connected by the concept of continuum as expressed through separate yet coalescing moments, these films tell us much about ourselves, often challenging long-held narratives surrounding our relationship to nature, history and each other.
continuum features recent video works from award-winning filmmakers including Kōji Yamamura and Nicholas Tory, as well as animation studio PAW Media and social enterprise Tjanpi Desert Weavers. Objects, sketches and other media that document the intricate processes of animation production will also be on display.
The exhibition will be held at The Japan Foundation, Sydney gallery from February 18 to July 2, 2022.
