Monsieur Camembert’s acclaimed Leonard Cohen show makes triumphant return to State Theatre for finale of inaugural national tour!

Featuring special guest artists: iOTA, Abby Dobson, Diana Rouvas, Lyn Bowtell, Timothy James Bowen and more!

The inaugural national tour of Cohen Noir is coming to an end, returning to the State Theatre in Sydney on Saturday, November 8 with just one date left for audiences to experience this acclaimed celebration of Leonard Cohen.

Over the past 15 years, the production has sold out Sydney’s most iconic venues including the Sydney Opera House, State Theatre and City Recital Hall, and continues to evolve into something truly special. Audiences have been mesmerised, leaving glowing reviews and heartfelt messages about this immersive concert event presented by three-time ARIA Award winners Monsieur Camembert.

In Cohen Noir, Leonard Cohen’s timeless songs are reimagined in a vivid, musically adventurous setting. One of the audience’s favourite moments comes when Cohen’s own voice is woven through the performance, sharing his wit and poetry as Monsieur Camembert’s Yaron Hallis responds in spoken word, creating a reflective dialogue between Cohen’s words and the live arrangements.

The show features a 12-piece ensemble of virtuosos with saxophones, flute, accordion, grand piano, strings, double bass, guitars, drums and the distinctive sound of the Mexican harp, performed by renowned singer and mariachi maestro Victor Valdes. They are joined by the extraordinary Mongolian throat singer and horse-hair fiddle player, Bukhu, and a soaring 50-voice choir. For this final concert of 2025, audiences will be treated to a line-up of exceptional guest artists including iOTA, Abby Dobson, Diana Rouvas, Lyn Bowtell and Timothy James Bowen. Expect unforgettable renditions of classics such as Suzanne, Bird on a Wire and Hallelujah, delivered with passion and depth.

This performance marks the conclusion of the inaugural Cohen Noir national tour, which has been met with extraordinary audience response for its rich, theatrical reimagining of Leonard Cohen’s music – weaving Cohen’s own voice through the show to create a moving conversation between his poetry and the live performance.
