Clown is a performance style that is about being open and present and finding what is uniquely funny about you.
Zuma Puma will bring together her extensive work with shamanic practice and comedy performance to help you discover something in yourself! The workshop is open to all levels including total beginners.
The Clown and Ritual incubator with Zuma Puma is on route from the UK and Canada to Sydney.
Zuma works with the idea that performance is ritual, and the players will work with whatever is alive in us now to create comedy and to be our truest selves on stage and in life.
We’ll use a range of exercises influenced by the work of Grotowski, Alexandro Jodorowski, Heyoka sacred clown, Phillipe Gaulier and Pochinko Clown through mask. This is a practice that can assist us in creating new works, heal ourselves and let our truest selves be visible (on stage and in life).
Zuma has facilitated thousands of Clownlife participants over the past 8 years (the last 3 years full time across Canada, UK, USA, Mexico, Italy, Spain and Germany). She runs regular Clown and Ritual residencies in the UK, Spain, Italy and Canada and will be passing through Sydney on her way back to Europe. Zuma has 10 years of extensive clown training with practitioners all around the globe including her principal teachers- Philippe Gaulier, Sue Morrison- Pochinko clown, Francine Cote of Cirque du Soleil, Peter Schuman of Bread and Puppet Vermont, Spy Monkey UK just to name a few. Her research in clown is vast and diverse and draws on a variety of different clown aesthetics, ancient traditions of sacred clown as well as contemporary clown and comedy.
