CityTalks Sydney: Democratising technology

Jim McKelvey on the Square revolution

Produced by the City of Sydney

In 2009, Jim McKelvey co-founded Square, a high-growth $20B FinTech startup that revolutionised mobile payments for millions of small businesses.

At this CityTalks Sydney, hear him discuss the role of the consumer and the implications of greater participation in technological development.

He’ll be joined by a panel of tech leaders to examine the local and global effects of democratising technology. The panel will discuss whether technology has become the great equaliser – and at what cost.

They’ll explore the data and security challenges posed by this largely unregulated new sector and the role of policymakers, industry leaders and big businesses.

This event is part of the Visiting Entrepreneur Program, produced by the City of Sydney with support from NSW Government.

Tickets are free, but registration is required.
