Christian The Lion is the star of a fundraising exhibition in Mosman.
Made famous by the Oprah Winfrey Show and YouTube.
Christian was bought by 2 young Australians, Ace Bourke and John Rendall, from the Harrods store in London in 1969. He was brought up in their furniture shop on the Kings Road in Chelsea, before being released in to the wild.
Christian’s struggle for his freedom, having been born to captive parents in a UK zoo, reads like a fairytale. His reunion with Ace and John in Kenya 1 year after his release in to the wild, became a YouTube phenomenon with over 100 million views, allowing new generations to be inspired by Christian’s story.
“Christian still has an influence on how people view animals and how we should protect and love them.” – Ace Bourke.
Museum quality, limited edition prints of Christian taken in London by world-renowned photographer Derek Cattani (Christian’s only official photographer) will be available to purchase in celebration of World Lion Day.
Each purchase comes with a personally autographed hard copy of A Lion Called Christian by Ace Bourke.
100% of the proceeds from the exhibition go to wildlife conservation.
