Bookings open 13 March 2019
Over 2 fun-filled days, kids will get to throw and trim their own set of ceramic bowls using the potter’s wheel.
Under the guidance of our experienced ceramics tutor Hayley West, kids will spend the first day getting hands-on and messy making simple bowls using raku clay.
By day 2 the kids’ bowls will be dry enough to trim. For this process, they’ll return to the wheel to smooth and finish their work. They will get full instruction on all bowl trimming, how to turn a footring, burnishing all trimmed areas and smoothing.
After the workshop, we’ll glaze and fire the bowls ready to use. Each child’s work will be ready to collect approximately 4 weeks after the workshop.
This workshop is designed for complete beginners, as well as kids with some experience who want to improve their skills in wheel-throwing, trimming and finishing.
