Consuming passions: starting a creative business

Transform your creative passion into a successful business

Produced by the City of Sydney

Do you have a creative passion you could turn into a business? Come along to this free City of Sydney seminar and hear from small business creatives LOCO Project and Platform72 who are living the dream.

Learn about setting up a creative business, marketing your brand, the importance of networks and hear from a local start-up about their experience.

You’ll also gain insights from the Blog Society on collaborating and sharing your creative business ideas.

One of Sydney’s hottest new startups is LOCO Project, a pop-up exhibition space built inside a shipping container. Hear from founder Sam George and learn more about the mobile company, which has a philosophy of showcasing local talent from the area it’s just popped into.

Juliet Rosser from Platform72 will share insights on her success. Launched in 2012 under the City of Sydney’s Creative Spaces Program, Platform72 sheds a whole new perspective on new artists’ work. The original gallery on Darlinghurst’s Oxford Street in Darlinghurst was made to look like a retail space, making it easier for people to buy their first piece of affordable, original art. Platform72 now has its own flagship store in St Leonards.

Jaclyn Carlson from the Blog Society will guide on workshops, classes and events that foster collaboration and creativity between creative business owners.

This is a free Business 101 seminar, but bookings are essential to avoid disappointment.
