Botanical Linocuts with Cilla Campbell

This botanically themed linocut workshop is suitable for anyone wishing to learn relief printing techniques. Using simple processes you will create original hand printed art works and sufficient skills to continue cutting and printing at home.

Cilla Campbell is an experienced teacher and artist who will guide you through the lino carving and printing process using non-toxic water-based inks.

All materials are included which you can take home to continue cutting and printing.

What you will learn:

  • A brief history of lino/woodcut printing

  • An overview for choices of materials and tools suitable for relief printing without a press.

  • How to cut and print by hand

  • Inking and roller techniques

  • Mono and Gelliplate processes

  • Chin collé - a japanese process for adding colour without the need to cut a second block

  • How to trace and transfer a design to the printing block

Our event will be Covid safe, in line with the latest advice from the NSW Government. Social distancing measures will be in place, with hand sanitiser available at the Maiden Theatre. Please do not attend the event if you have been feeling unwell or have been exhibiting flu-type symptoms.
