Book Week with Kelly Canby

Join award-winning author and illustrator Kelly Canby for a creative drawing workshop inspired by her book, A Leaf Called Greaf.

Where do picture book ideas really come from? Sometimes, they begin with a feeling, a quiet moment, a spark of joy, or a sudden storm of emotion.

In this creative and heart-led workshop, award-winning author and illustrator Kelly Canby will share how her books often start not with a big idea, but with a small feeling worth following. Inspired by her most recent picture book A Leaf Called Greaf, she’ll guide students through gentle reflection and expressive drawing prompts to help them ‘catch’ their own unique emotion and turn it into something visual.

You’ll get to hear about her process, watch a live demonstration, and then create your own feelings-based drawing, no art experience required, just curiosity and a pencil, or crayon, or marker...

Suitable for children aged 6-8 years.

Students will need paper and pencils, crayons or textas. A variety of colours please.
