Sunday 18 April 2021 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Join us in conversation with Myer Bloom, a retired teacher and university tutor who continues to research historic homelands of Eastern European Ashkenazi Jews and of Sephardi Jews.
Between 2010 – 2018, Myer Bloom interviewed members of the Sydney and Melbourne Sephardi communities. He also immersed himself in a deeper study of Sephardi history and culture, which included visits to a number of historic sites in traditional Sephardi homelands. The result is the book, Sephardi Narratives From Australia: Ancient Traditions Ruptured and Reshaped. The book’s interviews present previously unrecorded personal histories that are strikingly different from those of the more widely known Ashkenazi (European) Jewish histories.
