Friday 21 May 2021 from 7pm to 8:15pm
Bach in the Dark is an unconventional concert series run by cellist Rachel Scott. Pre-COVID, it used to be in the Crypt of St James' Church, and was a huge hit with audiences of all ages.
The Choir of St James' joined Rachel a number of times over the years and was an audience favourite!
During 2020, Rachel started live-streaming concerts, and in 2021 she’s continuing. On Friday 21 May at 7:00pm, Rachel will be joined by the sublime Choir of St James’, King Street, their conductor Warren Trevelyan-Jones, and their organist Alistair Nelson. They’ll be performing a motet by Bach, an amazing piece by John Tavener for cello and choir, some music by Pablo Casals – there’ll be something for every music lover! If you were lucky enough to be at the ‘rose upon a thorn’ concert with the choir in March, you’ll know it sounded glorious. In fact, a reviewer wrote “The choir has returned to performance after the COVID hiatus sounding better than ever before”.

A couple of things to know – tickets will STOP being sold at 4:30pm on the day of the concert. The link will also be live for a few days – so if you are out (or live in a different time-zone), know that you can still enjoy the concert for a number of days after the concert.
