Austin Mackay is a singer/songwriter and gigging musician from Newcastle, Australia. Entering the local gigging scene at only 13 years of age, Austin has gained years of valuable experience as both a writer and a performer.
His fusion of Indie/Pop/Alternative music extends from his love for artists such as Matt Corby, Ziggy Alberts, James Bay and John Mayer.
In July of 2019 Austin released his Debut Single 'Back To Me', which was produced by himself and coproducer Dane Baldwin. Being still in school at the time, the track was released onto all platforms, including into the 'Triple J Unearthed High' competition, where it caught the ears of Triple J staff, including Music Director 'Dave Ruby Howe', who commented "It's got that wavy psych wash over it - it works pretty well with Austin's heart-throbbery.".
Along with the release of 'Back To Me', 2019 saw Austin place as a finalist in a number of songwriting competitions, including the 'Listen Up Songwriting Competition', where he placed in the top 100 songwriters in the whole of Australia, and the 'ASPIRE Songwriting Competition'.
2020 brings a whole new wave of excitement for Austin's career, with heaps of new music due for release, and many more gigs on the way. Follow along with Austin's social media pages to keep up to date with new releases and upcoming shows.
