Ashrei art prize
A new $3,000 national art prize for 2 and 3 dimensional artworks.
The Ashrei Art Prize is a new $3,000 national art prize for 2 and 3 dimensional artworks.
The prize is an outgrowth of the monthly Woollahra painting meetup. The gathering began in 2017 at the Woollahra Seventh-day Adventist Community Hall.
Ashrei is a Hebrew word meaning happy or blessed. It is said to be a calm contentment rather than a giddy or jolly feeling. Studies have shown that happiness is encouraged by “whole person” wellness, which encompasses various dimensions, such as the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, environmental and vocational aspects of life.
The overall theme of Ashrei: Everyone wants to be Happy will cover the 7 dimensions as categories for art submissions.
Closing date for entries is 14 August 2018.
Exhibition dates are 16 to 20 September 2018.
