Archetypes is an exhibition of art, woodworking and architectural design, put together as a celebration by the Lockhart Smith family.

  • Catherine McCorkill – oil painting, printmaking

  • Christopher Lockhart Smith – wood work

  • Arianne Lockhart Oz – black and white ink drawings

  • Lamar Lockhart-Smith – architectural design

Life in an environment where creative thinking is valued and lived out, has been a central commitment for the Lockhart Smith family, towards an appreciation of nature, form, beauty and the arts.

Lamar Lockhart-Smith is embarking on a career in architecture, where already his prize-winning sense of design shows an awareness of the importance of creating healthy and pleasant surroundings for life and work.

Christopher Lockhart Smith uses mainly fallen wood to make furniture in the traditional style of the English Windsor chair, with steaming techniques and without power tools. Among his skills is the art of the Japanese Kumiko technique of lantern making.

Arianne Lockhart Oz’s black and white pen drawings explore an intricate, often symbolic style, while her mother, Catherine McCorkill, has a love of portraiture, which shows in her attention to detail and the play of light in her oil paintings.
