Annie Kennedy - landscape paintings

Annie Kennedy’s exhibition titled “Molly’s Country, My Country” is a collection of landscape paintings first inspired by the land around Singleton in the Hunter Valley where Annie’s family had lived for generations.  

Her beloved Aunty Molly died in 2023 and Molly’s ashes were placed on the graves of her grandparents just outside the township of Scone. After the ceremony Annie harvested images from the land around where Molly would now remain and other places in the Hunter Valley.

As she then continued in her life, she collected images of other landscapes that were important to her – in her garden, walking the dog in Sydney Park, travelling in Burgundy (France) on a wet, cloudy day, Jamberoo mountain while staying at a friend’s cabin and repeated scenes of the sunrise over her house as the years and seasons progressed. This exhibition celebrates connection, beginnings and endings and the importance of home in all its variations.
