Drawing inspiration from Fado and folk tunes of the Iberian Peninsula and navigating the seas to Cape Verde and Brazil, Alma Orquestra will take you on a soulful journey from traditional to modern, and original Portuguese song. Beautiful melodies, captivating grooves, stunning improvisations - Alma Orquestra never fails to move listeners with their irresistible music.

Alma Orquestra has performed for large audiences at festivals and many of Sydney's live music venues. They wowed viewers when they starred in SBS’s "Destination Flavour Eurovision", invited as Adam Liaw's special guests. This spectacular 5 piece ensemble features Sydney’s stunning songstress/violinist Mandie Vieira, alongside fellow Portuguese-Australian saxophonist extraordinaire Loretta Palmeiro and a stellar rhythm section in guitarist Jeremy Sawkins, bassist Hannah James and drummer Mike Quigley.

Bringing you the sweetest sounds of Portugal and more, Alma will warm your heart and soothe your saudades.

Covid-safe information

All singers must use the Perspex screen provided by Foundry616. All patrons are socially distanced inside the venue as per NSW Health guidelines, at 1.5 metres between groups, and individuals. You MUST use the hand sanitiser provided upon entry. Individual details will be taken for contact tracing purposes, and then you are welcome to take your seat.

Face masks are available for those who wish to use them. The safety of our staff, patrons, and artists are of the utmost importance, so we ask that people with any cold or flu-like symptoms to please stay home. If such symptoms are exhibited after entry to the venue, you will be asked to leave.

We provide table service only, with the exception of those who are seated at the bar. Standing in groups is prohibited.
