Saturday 3 September 2022 from 12:45pm to 2:15pm
The workshop explores rhythms drawn from the music of West Africa – principally from the Adowa tradition of the Ashanti people of central Ghana, and the Hatsiatsia repertoire of the Ewe people of south-eastern Ghana.
The ideas explored include polyrhythm.
You will begin by exploring the rhythms physically through stepping, clapping and vocalising parts, and then extend the ideas to whichever percussive instruments are available, to movement, or to any other ideas and skills that participants may bring to it. (Some physical coordination required but all in good fun and all in the mind!)
