Our tutor, Suzi Dougherty, is a professional actor/voice artist with over 20 years experience in the industry. She is a founding member of The Bell Shakespeare Company. She has played Cheryl Braxton on Home and Away for over 5 years and is soon to appear in Foxtel’s new series, Fighting Season.

Suzi runs classes that include a voice warm-up and text work. The class will develop many skills like communication, relationship building and memory. Working on well-written texts allows the participants to use their life experiences in a positive way and share their unique experiences with each other.

By getting up and moving around when working on scenes, it also becomes a stimulating way of being active. The class will be specifically designed with older students in mind, so all levels of physical, mental and vocal capabilities are addressed. The benefits of being involved in acting classes include better health and increased social connection.

The Harry Jensen Community Centre is open Monday to Friday 9.30am until 4pm and everyone is welcome. We have free WIFI, computers, newspapers, tea/coffee, TV, washing machine/dryer, shower, Justice of the Peace, room hire for meetings/events, Lending Library, Community Garden, Table Tennis & Snooker Table. Plus many different activities, like painting & acting classes, Zumba, yoga & web page design.
