From Wednesday 13 and Sunday 24 February at Millers Point Community Centre, we’ll be celebrating NSW Seniors Festival with special classes and events.
Try our acting class in Millers Point with our tutor, Suzi Dougherty, a professional actor/voice artist with over 20 years’ experience in the industry. She is a founding member of The Bell Shakespeare Company. She has played Cheryl Braxton on Home and Away for over 5 years and is soon to appear in Foxtel’s new series, Fighting Season.
Suzi will run a class that will include a voice warm-up and include text work. The class will develop many skills like communication, relationship building and memory. Working on well-written texts allows the participants to use their life experiences in a positive way and share their unique experiences with each other.
By getting up and moving around when working on scenes, it also becomes a stimulating way of being active. The class will be specifically designed with older students in mind, so all levels of physical, mental and vocal capabilities are addressed. The benefits of being involved in acting classes include better health and increased social connection.
