A Scottish Success tour

Nightlight tour

As Colonial Secretary, Macleay became one of the pre-eminent citizens of Sydney. He was right-hand man to the governor, one of the leading amateur scientists in the colony and owner of the finest house in the colony, Elizabeth Bay House.

During this candlelit tour of his magnificent home, visitors will learn how this hardworking civil servant from Ross-shire ended up on the other side of the world. He brought with him the world’s foremost private collection of butterflies and moths.

Discover Macleay’s lasting legacies to Sydney, including the introduction of the jacaranda and wisteria. Join us for a wee dram of whisky in the cellars.

Refreshments included.
