A Refugee Week dinner: from the Middle East with love

Asylum seekers and refugees: favorites from their homelands, made with love

The stronger safer, more caring, more loving country we’d like to live in – we create it together. We create it through our compassion, our acceptance and the welcome we offer. Refugee Week is an opportunity to come together, to celebrate, to strengthen our communities and enrich our lives.

On Saturday we’re preparing a feast, a selection of some of our asylum seeker team’s favorite traditional home-style dishes, made with love and care, the way they make it at home for family and friends.

On the night there will also be some spoken word where you’ll hear real stories of hope, courage and endurance from asylum seekers and refugees about their journey and experiences in their new homeland – presented by WWM Poetry.

The nights are about community and building bridges of friendship and understanding, and all are welcome. We’re stronger together.

The dinners are run in support of the training programs and the social enterprise at Parliament on King, here’s a clip from SBS if you’d like to learn more:

Bookings are essential and there are 2 sittings:
1. First seating is at 6pm
2. Second seating is at 7.30pm

Reservations are essential. And for $25 per person for a 3 course home style, traditional meal, dinner may book quickly. Vegan and vegetarian dish will be available and children are most welcome.
