Join curator Margaret Betteridge as she reveals how a night out at the Sydney Town Hall has been memorable in so many different ways.
Sydney’s much-loved Town Hall holds a special place in the hearts of Sydneysiders. Every year, it welcomes thousands of people through its doors.
When those doors were opened in November 1889, the citizens of Sydney were promised a building where they could gather, socialise and enjoy significant cultural events.
From Federation to the Sydney 2000 Olympics, from Lady Gaga to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, from balls to birthdays and in times of peace, war and pandemics, the Town Hall continues to be anchored to the social life of our city.
