With Anzac Day services cancelled due to Covid-19, Endymion Productions is proud to help Australians mark the nationally significant date by making 3 Weeks in Spring, the inspiring musical about the birth of the Anzac legend, available to watch for free on 25 and 26 April, 2020.
Filmed live at the State Theatre in August 2019 by VisionTV, the show, by Ian Gerrard and Russell Tredinnick, was called "extraordinarily good... really moving" by AnzacLive. It stars Lincoln Elliott as Private John Simpson, Matthew Herne as C.E.W. Bean, Lachlan James O'Brien as Colonel John Monash and Courtney Powell as Hannah Monash.
Centred on the iconic story of Simpson and his donkey, 3 Weeks in Spring is about the birth of the Anzac legend, set on the World War 1 battlefields and in Australian towns.
Adored by Sydney audiences (every performance received a standing ovation) and hailed by critics as "the stuff of theatre dreams", poignant", "powerful", "rousing", "terrific" and "not to be missed", this epic tale of courage and sacrifice, unlikely heroes, and love and loss is both uniquely Australian story and completely universal.
With "great music" (Sydney Morning Herald) that sets toes tapping and spirits soaring, 3 Weeks in Spring is that rare thing - a musical that makes you laugh and cry, and pays respectful, emotional tribute to the Anzac legacy.
