In December 2021, a new contender for the world’s next great tenor made himself known.

In an auspicious debut, Freddie De Tommaso jumped in as Cavaradossi in the Royal Opera, Covent Garden’s Tosca. He became the youngest tenor to sing the role on the iconic stage at just 28, and an immediate sensation.

In the years since, De Tommaso has cemented his place at the very top of the operatic world, with performances at Europe’s most prestigious opera houses.

Now, he performs in Australia for the first time, with two recital performances, accompanied by a pianist, in Sydney and Melbourne. This is your chance to hear the young tenor praised as a “vocal phenomenon” and one of the greatest opera singers working in the Italian tradition.

These performances come off the back of De Tommaso’s first two albums, released through the prestigious Decca label. His award-winning debut, Passione, debuted at number 1 in the UK classical charts. His follow-up, Il Tenore, saw the tenor tackle Puccini and Bizet’s most famous arias, and shot again to number 1. Limelight, in a five-star review, said the album saw him “stake claim as ‘The Tenor’ of his generation”.

See for yourself why De Tommaso is winning plaudits and fans the world over in this historic Australian debut.
