Sydney Christmas 2013

produced by City of Sydney

A Sydney Christmas is like no other in the world – hot, relaxed, social and traditional with a twist.

The streets will be illuminated with lights and decorations, including a new interactive Christmas tree in Martin Place and digital projections on Sydney Town Hall and in Sydney Square. The free family-friendly concerts in Martin Place, Hyde Park and the villages will be a hit with the kids and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for photos with Santa.

Find everything on your Christmas list in the unique shops, boutiques, arcades and department stores and enjoy extra Christmas cheer on the streets as choirs sing carols every Thursday night.

There are so many reasons to visit the city this summer, so come and enjoy the sunshine and balmy nights for a bright, fun-filled, festive season.

•Turn the corner into Sydney Square where animated light projections will be accompanied by music and live performance bringing to life our favourite Christmas tales
•Then to Darling Harbour and experience SantaFest, with giant inflatable Santas on key buildings, and a sparkling Christmas tree (30 November – 25 December)

Choirs will also grace the city on Thursday evenings (7pm-9pm) from 28 November to 19 December in Martin Place, Pitt Street Mall and Sydney Square.

Christmas at Sydney Town Hall – Tuesday, 17 December 2013
Nothing will get you into the Christmas spirit like the Christmas at Sydney Town Hall concert. The magnificent Grand Organ and the stunning sandstone surroundings make this very traditional affair of carol singing, festive music and readings a memorable night for the whole family. Tickets sell out quickly, so don’t miss out on this much-loved night in one of Sydney’s most beautiful buildings.

CHRISTMAS PROJECTIONS
Soak up the atmosphere as we illuminate the beautiful sandstone walls of Sydney Town Hall this Christmas. Watch in wonder, as every evening after sunset, the George Street facade of the building springs to life with spectacular light projections – while exciting new digital animation gets everyone into the spirit of the season in Sydney Square. The images come alive with special guest performances from charity partner, Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) ambassadors and local artists as part of their work to provide music education for underprivileged youth in Australia (8pm–10pm nightly, except Sundays).

DECORATIONS
Adding to Sydney’s bright, colourful Christmas atmosphere is the multitude of Christmas decorations that fill the City and surrounding villages. You’ll feel the Christmas love with more than 1,900 festive street banners, bud lighting, pole decorations and Christmas trees at Martin Place, Customs House Square, St Mary’s Cathedral forecourt, Taylor Square and Hyde Park.

CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGES
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…and our city villages are on board, with specially selected days for each village to really show its stuff! These events will be packed with in-store offers, activations and special entertainment, so get along and get your shopping done in style.

Whether you’re sipping champagne in a favourite boutique, listening to the sounds of school kids in the local square, or just grabbing a great bargain, the city’s villages will help make all of your Christmas dreams come true.
