Sydney will be the scene of an amazing celebration of colour this spring during Art & About Sydney, featuring a house that rains on the inside, the ghosts of bohemian Sydney, 3D projections in Hyde Park, an urban jungle cube and a closing night held right on George Street.
From 21 September to 21 October, the city’s streets, parks , squares and laneways will see art of all forms in unusual places with involvement from international and Australian artists, curators, our much loved cultural institutions and the people of Sydney.
This year we explore Art & About Sydney – “In Colour”, looking at how colour affects and inspires us, both as individuals and as a City.
Join us for Friday Night Live on September 21, when the city will come alive with the colours of Art & About Sydney. The opening party starts in Martin Place with a huge line up of free entertainment from 6pm to 10pm, co-presented with Sydney based record label Modular. The line-up includes The Bamboos, Van She, Rufus and Jingle Jangle along with pop up bars and food trucks. The Art Gallery of NSW, Museum of Sydney, Australian Museum, State Library of NSW and Customs House Library are joining the party with extended openings and events to celebrate. The Art & About installations will open that night and we’re running free vintage buses around the city to make sure you don’t miss any of the action.
