Better Read's talking heads: Larissa Behrendt

Larissa Behrendt is an Australian academic and writer. She is currently a Professor of Indigenous Research and Director of Research at the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning at the University of Technology, Sydney. She is the author of several non-fiction works including Aboriginal Dispute Resolution and Achieving Social Justice, as well as two fiction novels; Home and Legacy. These novels have earned her both the Queensland and Victoria Premier’s Literary Award as well as The Commonwealth Writer’s Prize for Best First Novel. Larissa has been active in issues around Indigenous education including literacy and in April 2011, Larissa was appointed to chair The Review of Higher Education Access and Outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People for the federal government.
